OFFICIAL DEMO, EXPLAINED

Open MAIC Chat: what open.maic.chat is

If you searched for “open maic chat”, you are looking for open.maic.chat — the live OpenMAIC demo run by the project’s own team. This page gives you the right address, explains how it relates to the open-source code, and is clear about what this site is and is not.

Reviewed October 4, 2026 against the official repository.

Looking for the official demo? Go to open.maic.chat. You are currently on OpenMAIC.pro, an independent classroom builder that is not operated by the OpenMAIC team.

What open.maic.chat is

The OpenMAIC repository links open.maic.chat as its live demo, and the project’s own skill documentation calls it the cloud edition: “the version officially deployed and hosted by the OpenMAIC team”. It is the quickest way to see the upstream project — the Open Multi-Agent Interactive Classroom — without installing anything.

The address is easy to mistype. open.maic.chart, open miac chat and open maik chat all mean the same destination: open.maic.chat, with “maic” for Multi-Agent Interactive Classroom and the .chat ending.

Access codes and the OpenMAIC Skill

The hosted demo also backs the OpenMAIC Skill, a package that lets agent workbenches such as OpenClaw generate classrooms from a chat app. In the skill’s hosted mode you do not install OpenMAIC at all; you give the skill an access code instead. The official skill documentation describes the steps:

  1. Sign in at open.maic.chat.
  2. Open your account menu in the top-right corner and choose the access code settings.
  3. Generate a code. It starts with sk-.
  4. Save it in your workbench configuration. For OpenClaw that is ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json:
{
  "skills": {
    "entries": {
      "openmaic": {
        "config": {
          "accessCode": "sk-xxx"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}

Treat an access code like a password: it lets whoever holds it generate classrooms on your account. We do not document the demo’s limits or any charges here, because the OpenMAIC team sets those and they can change — check open.maic.chat for the current terms.

Frequently asked questions

What is Open MAIC Chat?

Open MAIC Chat is how people search for open.maic.chat, the live demo of OpenMAIC. The official OpenMAIC skill documentation describes it as the cloud edition: the version officially deployed and hosted by the OpenMAIC team.

What is the correct address: open.maic.chat or open.maic.chart?

The address is open.maic.chat. “open.maic.chart”, “open miac chat” and “open maik chat” are common misspellings of the same site.

Is OpenMAIC.pro the same as open.maic.chat?

No. open.maic.chat is run by the OpenMAIC team. OpenMAIC.pro is an independent service with its own accounts, credits and support, inspired by the open-source project and not affiliated with it.

What is an OpenMAIC access code?

An access code is a key that starts with “sk-” and lets an agent workbench such as OpenClaw generate classrooms on the hosted demo for you. The official skill documentation says you create it after signing in at open.maic.chat, from the access code settings in your account menu.

Do I need an access code to use OpenMAIC.pro?

No. OpenMAIC.pro uses a Google sign-in and credits: one classroom build costs 6 credits and new accounts receive 6 welcome credits.

Can I run OpenMAIC without the hosted demo?

Yes. The source code is MIT-licensed on GitHub, and the README documents Docker Compose, a pnpm install and Vercel deployment. You bring your own model API key and a PostgreSQL database.

Build a classroom in your browser

No install, no API keys. Describe a topic on OpenMAIC.pro and an AI teacher and AI classmates deliver it as slides, a whiteboard, quizzes, an interactive simulation and a project. One build costs 6 credits, and new accounts start with 6 welcome credits.

OpenMAIC.pro is an independent service inspired by the open-source Open Multi-Agent Interactive Classroom project. It is not operated by or affiliated with THU-MAIC or Tsinghua University, and it is not open.maic.chat.
